‘The competition is scheduled to take place on the 13th and 14th of June at Bradford College. It will give students the ideal opportunity to put their film making skills on show, to get to know some other young film makers in the area and to be introduced to the new Bradford Film School. The event is free and light refreshments will be provided over both days.
On day one the Film School staff will outline the competition and show the students around the film school and its facilities. For the rest of the day, the students will plan and produce a short film in groups. Day two will consist of post production and presentation of the short films. The winner will be chosen by a high profile jury around UNESCO City of Film representative David Wilson. The theme is likely to be Yorkshire based.
We would like to encourage students to apply to the two day event in teams of three people, as this will make it easiest for them to form groups for the film making. Any students who want to apply on their own are of course also welcome and will join a team on the day.
The event is particularly recommended for students who are thinking about applying to a film course or would like to enter the film industry, as it will introduce them to the whole process of the production process.
In addition to the film school 48-hour film making competition, the Film School also offers a workshop on student film distribution which is free of charge and can be delivered at your college. This covers the different ways in which young film makers can promote their work at festivals, events and online. Further details will go up on our website www.bradfordfilmschool.co.uk in the next days.’
