The Sargent Disc BAFTA Filmmakers Market returns! On Saturday 5th July at BAFTA’s headquarters, join many of the UK’s major film industry organisations for a packed day of masterclasses, panels, screenings and advice sessions aimed at helping emerging filmmakers improve creative and business skills as they progress in the industry. Delegates who book a ticket for any session can also access industry experts for free during a series of one to one sessions available throughout the day and network with their future collaborators by joining the Filmmakers Market Network; an online networking group for delegates to connect before and stay in touch after the market.

Filmmakers Market

This year the programme provides discussion around and insights into how to survive script development, the craft of directing, the changing face of film distribution (in the Princess Anne Theatre) together with producing, finding your cast and budgeting and scheduling (in the David Lean Room). In all sessions our speakers will be sharing their professional experiences and thoughts on current issues and opportunities in the film industry today.

This year’s Filmmakers Market will see Creative Skillset present ‘Meet the Pros,’ a unique opportunity to take part in intimate discussions with talented professionals working in costume, editing, production management, make up, editing and sound; all of whom will offer a creative insight into their daily work processes in the cosy setting of BAFTA’s Boardroom.

There will also be the chance to book for a One-to-One CV Workshop with Kate Watson from Sara Putt Associates, giving you the opportunity to get your CV in top shape for interviews.

Acclaimed short films will screen all day in the Run Run Shaw Theatre courtesy of the National Film & Television School, London Film School, London Short Film Festival, Sheffield Doc Fest and the BAFTA 2014 Live Action and Animated short film nominees and winners.
Of course our day of learning would not be complete without the opportunity to relax, digest and discuss experiences with other filmmakers. We will be wrapping up with a networking reception for all participants and attendees courtesy of the team at the British Council.

All sessions will cost £6, with further access to screenings in the Run Run Shaw Theatre, Speed Sessions and British Council Film Networking Drinks.
