Soundology Breakthrough Pitch

DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL 5pm GMT on Wednesday 16 April.
Breakthrough documentary-maker? £1,000 plus mentoring on offer for new talent making a documentary on a subject close to the heart
Sheffield Doc/Fest is delighted to introduce the Soundology Breakthrough Pitch – a new pitching opportunity for 2014 aimed exclusively at new documentary talent looking for a break into the industry.
What’s on offer?
We will select 5 new documentary-makers without any major industry experience and give them the chance to pitch documentaries of 3-5 minutes in length on stage in Sheffield during Doc/Fest 2014 in front of major documentary industry representatives. All the filmmakers selected to present projects will be offered pitch training to prepare them for the experience.
The winning filmmaker will be awarded a cash prize donation of £1,000 to make their documentary, a composed track/s from major film and TV composers Soundology and ongoing industry mentoring from the Sheffield Doc/Fest team.
Who and what are we looking for?
We want your idea that will engage the audience for 3-5 minutes in a short documentary on a subject close to your heart – something that means a lot to you personally – a story you feel really must be told. You can interpret this brief in whatever way you like.
Entrants should be new entrants to the documentary/film/TV industry with little or no broadcast or festival screening experience. We are especially interested in applicants from culturally diverse backgrounds and from outside of London, though all applicants are welcome and will be judged on merit.
