February’s ‘Filmmaker of the Month’ winner!

Congratulations to Himarsha Chathura Ukwatta who is February’s filmmaker of the month winner, with his filming of the historic Lister Park!

The 25-year-old from Bradford who is studying a Masters in Film at Bradford University impressed the judges with his artistic cinematography and fine attention to detail. Chathura’s film entitled, Autumn is a study of the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness in Lister Park.

David Wilson, Director of Bradford City of Film, said: “What we loved about Himarsha’s film was the colour and lightness of touch as he filmed autumn unfolding in Lister Park. He really captured wonderfully the many moods of the season and the stunning beauty of Bradford’s most popular park.”

Winner Himarsha Chathura Ukwatta said: “I am surprised but delighted to win the competition. I really enjoyed making the film and it is fantastic to get my work on Big Screen Bradford.”

The films will be shown on Big Screen Bradford and the website throughout March.  The 12 finalists for each month from 2014 will be judged by a panel of senior media executives at the end of the year and the winner will receive a £1,000 prize with the further opportunity to profile their work on the screen.
