Take 13 – Bollywood – Bhahis – Bhangra
‘If you had to choose a film to present and show in front of a group of friends and strangers, what would it be?’
Take 13’s question always makes people think and they continue their Autumn Winter 2013 Season with their first Bollywood themed event, taking place thiscoming Sunday, 20 October, at Carlisle Business Centre, Manningham. The venue’s café will be open from 1pm for refreshments and the screening will commence at 2pm.
In true Take 13 tradition, the title of the film won’t be known until the event itself and will be announced by Carlisle Business Centre employee, Zahra Niazi, who will also give her personal reason’s for choosing it and why she likes it so much.
Zahra has had many of her friends and family ask her what the film will be, but she’s managed to stay strong. ‘Take 13 have asked me to keep it secret and It’s not been easy”, she laughed. “Everyone’s just going to have to wait!”
Take 13’s events are designed to give opportunities for people from all backgrounds to meet and get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere and a friendly environment. The Chief Executive of Carlisle Business Centre, Sam Keighley, is keen that the event appeals to the business community that it serves but also that it reaches out into the wider community.
Sam explains, “At Carlisle Business Centre, we are at the heart of a vibrant community and therefore we have an important part to play in it and events like Take 13’s help to bring people together. Our Carlisle Business Centre has superb facilities for both businesses and the public alike. We’re keen to welcome people from across the city and all communities for this event and in the future too. Carlisle Business Centre can cater for anyone and all kinds of events and this event highlights just that.”
Those attending will be able to try the food at the centre’s café, the Carlisle Café, which will be offering a variety of drinks and Asian foods (including bhajis).
Tickets are £4 and £3 for under 16s. The ticket price includes nibbles and a choc ice at the interval. Tickets can be reserved at film@Take13.org or can be bought at the centre or from Take 13.
Take 13 grew from a group of friends showing films at each other’s houses until the interest grew to a point where the number of people wanting to come outgrew the available living room space! Take 13 now host their events, with the same format and enthusiasm, at venues across the district. Look out for future screenings or visit www.take13.org for news.
Take 13 is also keen to hear from other businesses, organisations and groups interested in partnering with them on future events. Email film@take13.org for any queries or requests.
Take 13 is kindly supported by Bradford UNESCO City of Film.
